The research-backed threshold for better mental health.
Burnout and poor employee health quietly drain budgets and push good people out the door. Before you measure the return on a wellness program, measure the cost of not having one.

Kenya Jackson-Saulters
Founder, Project 120
For most of my career, I've been asking one simple question: What helps people feel better?
That question has taken me everywhere—from mountaintops and city parks to boardrooms and community centers. I've spent more than a decade helping people reconnect with themselves, one another, and the natural world through workshops, retreats, and experiences rooted in both research and real life.
Along the way, I've had the privilege of partnering with organizations like REI and Lululemon, facilitating experiences for thousands of people across the country, and publishing the Nature Meditations series, which has sold more than 70,000 copies. My work has been featured in The New York Times, National Geographic, Forbes, and PBS, but what has stayed with me most are the countless stories from people who discovered that sometimes the path to feeling better begins with something surprisingly simple: stepping outside.
I remember one quiet afternoon in a city park, watching a tired nurse eat her lunch on a bench while the wind moved through the trees above her. She didn't do anything remarkable — she just sat, breathed, and let herself be outside for fifteen minutes. When she got up, her shoulders had dropped, her face had softened, and she walked away a little lighter. That small, ordinary moment has stayed with me ever since.
Project 120 was born from that realization.
When I learned about the growing body of peer-reviewed research showing that spending just 120 minutes outside each week can significantly improve mental health and well-being, something clicked. We don't need another complicated wellness routine. We need something that feels possible.
That's why I created Project 120.
This isn't about climbing mountains or becoming an outdoorsy person. It's about helping you find meaningful moments outside that fit your life, your schedule, and your version of nature. Whether that's eating lunch on a park bench, walking your dog, tending a garden, or sitting under your favorite tree, every moment counts.
My hope is that Project 120 helps you discover what I've seen over and over again: when we make space for nature, we make space for ourselves.
I'm so glad you're here.
